ABSTRACT: Benign cystic mesothelioma is a very rare and uncommon lesion, first reported by Plaut in 1928. It affects young women of reproductive age. It is usually asymptomatic or has non-specific symptoms. Diagnosis remains difficult despite the evolution of imaging, and the histopathological study is the key examination to make the diagnosis. Surgery remains the only curative treatment, regardless of significant rate of recurrence, and until today, no consensus on the therapeutic strategy is established.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Squamous cell carcinoma occurring in the rectum is a very rare malignancy. When encountered in the gastrointestinal tract, it usually involves the esophagus or the anal canal. The rare incidence of rectal squamous cell carcinomas has raised quite a few questions on the hypothetical etiologies and prognosis. CASE PRESENTATION: In this report, we present a case of a 73 years old woman who presented a rare case of squamous cell carcinoma, at 8 cm from the anal margin. CLINICAL DISCUSSION: Optimal treatment sequence of such an uncommon disease is yet to be standardized, surgery was the gold standard management for rectal squamous cell carcinoma, but exclusive chemoradiotherapy is slowly but surely supplanting it. CONCLUSION: This case allows us to engage in discussions over the uncommon location of the rectal SCC and its current treatment management. The exclusive chemoradiation therapy has given excellent results becoming the gold standard treatment of this rare entity.

INTRODUCTION: Metastatic lung adenocarcinoma in the thyroid is very rare. The clinical presentation and the radiological findings for metastasis carcinoma are nonspecific and do not allow the distinction between metastatic lung carcinoma and primary thyroid tumor. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of a pulmonary papillary adenocarcinoma revealed by a thyroid metastasis in a 62-year-old and non-smoker patient with no history of cancer. DISCUSSION: Thyroid metastasis revealing a primary adenocarcinoma of lung is extremely rare. In the absence of a history of lung cancer, the histological appearance of a papillary adenocarcinoma localized in the thyroid can be misdiagnosed as a primary thyroid cancer given the non-specificity of the clinical, radiological and histological presentations. Immunohistochemical analysis and molecular studies are the gold standards for establishing the diagnosis of the primary site. CONCLUSION: In this report we aim to discuss the histological and immunohistochemical features of lung adenocarcinoma metastazing in thyroid gland through a literature review. We are also targeting to highlight the essential role of immunohistochemistry and molecular study for the confirmation of the primary pulmonary origin and to discuss therapy for patients with lung cancer metastatic in the thyroid [17].

Metastasis of renal clear cell carcinoma (RCC) to the breast is exceptional. Breast metastases of extra-mammary tumors are rare and usually involve melanoma, lymphoma or leukemia. We report the case of a patient with breast metastasis of renal clear cell carcinoma occurring 18 years after nephrectomy. A history of RCC should always raise suspicion about breast metastasis, a situation that remains exceptional and whose diagnosis relies on anatomopathology.

Osteo-lipoma is a very rare benign tumor with a good prognosis. It is composed mainly of mature fatty tissue with a bony component. The diagnosis is based on the histological study, given the clinical and radiological characters that can simulate other benign or malignant pathologies. Osteosarcoma is the main differential diagnosis. The distinction between these two neoplasms is essential as the basis of the treatment is different. We report the case of a patient with a giant ossifying lipoma independent of bone tissue located in the thigh.
